Adam Smith International (Australia) Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Adam Smith International. It was established in 2012, in Sydney, as the company’s regional APAC headquarters. Since then, we have worked in 26 countries across the region, with live operations in 16 Asia-Pacific countries. Our team is engaged in BD, project management and consulting activities across a range of sectors including private sector and market systems development, economic governance and public financial management, agriculture and agribusiness, sustainable infrastructure, energy transition, climate adaption, extractives regulation, gender equality and social inclusion, criminal justice and security sector reform.
In 2021, ASI Australia established a regional representative office in Bangkok, Thailand, to service our growing Southeast Asia portfolio. It is within the Bangkok office that this Assistant Manager role will be based, working closely with our APAC colleagues at our Sydney regional headquarters and based throughout the region.
About the Role
Based in our Bangkok regional office, the Assistant Manager will play a crucial role in project administration in ensuring financial and operational performance of projects. This position will also contribute for business development, and proposal coordination while supporting and learning from experienced Project Managers in the team. This role is ideal for someone eager to develop hands-on experience in project management and international development consulting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management:
Support Program Managers in the Asia Pacific team in the successful management of projects. Which includes:
Support Program Managers in project administration, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, work planning, and logistics coordination (e.g., booking travel, organizing visas).
Assist in consultant management by preparing contracts, conducting due diligence, and maintaining record-keeping trackers.
Support hiring project staff/advisors/associates by preparing Terms of Reference/job descriptions and contracts for new consultants, undertaking due diligence for new consultants, subcontractors and other partners
Collaboration and communication
Collaborate with global colleagues to strengthen Asia Pacific presence in internal messaging, websites, policies, working groups and more
Work with the team to produce communications materials that detail the company’s experience and capability in the Asia Pacific region
Business development
Conduct background research on business development opportunities and support sector-specific and regional research for technical proposals.
Assist in proposal development by formatting documents, updating team CVs, obtaining expense costs, and negotiating consultant fee rates.
Job requirements
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and adaptable professional with:
At least 5 years’ experience in project administration, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Fluency in English comparable to an IELTS Band 7 or higher, with experience in working in an English-speaking work environment.
Higher level of computer skills including the full Microsoft suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with databases and project management software an advantage.
A degree in a relevant field, e.g. operations management, risk management, business administration or international development.
A background in working with multinational organizations is required, with preference for experience with INGOs, UN agencies or embassies.
Experience in international development is advantageous.
